Radio hosting
What's a CDN, and how does it help my station?
A CDN, content delivery network, is a worldwide network of servers that each keep a copy of your stream. When someone tunes in, they connect to the server nearest them instead of one machine in a single country. That means less buffering, lower latency, and a stream that stays smooth even when hundreds of people listen at once. Every paid Oadio plan streams over our global CDN by default; the free plan streams from a single origin server (no CDN), which is fine for a handful of local listeners.
What is bitrate, and which should I pick?
Bitrate is how much audio data your stream sends each second, measured in kbps. Higher bitrate means richer sound but uses more bandwidth. As a rough guide: 128 kbps is clean and reliable for talk and most music, 192 kbps sounds noticeably fuller, and 256 kbps is close to CD quality. Pick the highest your audience's connections can comfortably handle.
What is AutoDJ?
AutoDJ is a built-in radio automation engine. Upload your tracks, set playlists and a schedule, and it keeps your station on air 24/7, even when you're not live in the studio. It handles crossfades, scheduled shows, and listener requests, so there's never dead air.
Which stream formats are available?
Your stream can go out in MP3, AAC and AAC+ (HE-AAC), Opus, or OGG Vorbis, whatever suits your audience and bitrate. AzuraCast powers the encoding, so on the higher plans you can even run several formats at once. We don't offer FLAC: it's lossless and far too heavy for live streaming, with no real benefit over a high-bitrate AAC or Opus stream.
What is StereoTool, and do I need it?
StereoTool is professional broadcast audio processing, the same kind of software commercial FM and DAB stations use to get that loud, punchy, consistent sound. It evens out volume differences between tracks, sharpens clarity, balances bass and treble, widens the stereo image, and adds final loudness and limiting so your station sounds polished rather than like raw uploads. It's optional: most stations sound great without it, but if you want that commercial-radio sheen, we can enable it as a paid add-on on any plan.
In-store radio
Do I need a PPL PRS "TheMusicLicence" to play this?
Not for our station. TheMusicLicence is required when you play commercial music, FM/DAB radio, Spotify, CDs, or live performances. Our station plays only royalty-free music we licence for this purpose, so as long as it's the only music in your venue, you don't need TheMusicLicence to play it. If you also run commercial radio, a TV with sound, or live music, those still need their own licence.
What do I need to play it in my venue?
We provide the stream. There's no app to download and nothing to install. You just need a stable internet connection, any device with a web browser (an old tablet behind the till, a laptop, or a smart-speaker setup), and your existing speakers. We give you a private link: open it and play.
What's included, and can I cancel?
£13.99/month per venue (ex-VAT) gets you a branded royalty-free station streaming 24/7 on our global network, run and kept online by us. Pay annually and get three months free. Cancel anytime, you keep access to the end of the period you've paid for. Spoken promos in your own AI voice are an optional add-on.
Websites
How long does a website take?
A Landing page is usually 1–2 weeks, and a Business site 2–4 weeks, from the point we have your content. We'll give you a firm delivery date when we scope the work, not a vague "soon".
Do I own the site and the code?
Yes. Once your build is paid for, the site, its code and content are yours, no lock-in. You can stay with us for hosting and updates, or take it elsewhere whenever you like.
Can you host the website too?
Yes. We can host and maintain your site on fast, secure infrastructure, or hand it over for you to host yourself. Whichever suits you.
What do you need from me to start?
Your text, logo and any images, plus brand colours if you have them. No content ready yet? That's normal, we'll help you shape it so the site says the right things.
Custom builds
How does fixed-price work for a custom build?
We scope the work with you first, then quote a single fixed price so there are no surprises. Larger projects can be staged into milestones, each signed off before we move on.
Can you integrate with tools I already use?
Usually, yes, payment providers, CRMs, spreadsheets, booking systems and more. If a tool has an API, we can generally connect to it and automate the work you're doing by hand today.
Consulting
What happens in a strategy day?
A full day focused on your tech and growth questions: we audit where you are, build a prioritised action plan, and send written follow-up notes so nothing gets lost after the call.
Is the retainer a fixed commitment?
It's billed monthly with around two days of work included, and you can change or cancel anytime. Pay annually and you get three months free.
Billing & payments
Do prices include VAT?
Prices are shown excluding VAT. Where it applies, 20% UK VAT is added at checkout and itemised on your receipt.
Can I pay annually?
Yes. Switch any subscription to annual billing and you get three months free compared with paying monthly.
How do payments work, is my card safe?
Payments run securely through Stripe. We never see or store your card details; everything sensitive is handled on Stripe's PCI-compliant checkout.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions can be cancelled whenever you like, and you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
